When talking with leadership coaches, most say they venture out of the classic coaching stance about 20% of the time. But this also makes many coaches feel guilty as they view it as a transgression against the accepted coaching competencies.
And there are dangers to this approach, especially since there has been a lack of training on how to be more active while aligning with the fundamental coaching stance.
In this brainstorming discussion with Bill Berman, PhD ABPP and Magdalena Nowicka Mook, I describe the idea of Infinity Loop Coaching (developed by Bill and I) that expands the range of executive coaching while providing guardrails that help executive coaches move back into a more classic approach with ease.
